Helen

Helen - the bright one – is Greek in origin and goes back to Helen of Troy.  The 4th century St. Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine the Great, who some say was British, made the name popular in early Christian times.  More recently interest in classical literature, and Homer’s Troy in particular, revived the name in Britain.

Greta shows us how nice this bodice looks for casual or party wear

The lovely and talented Margie Butler of Golden Bough Music wears her Helen bodice on stage.  To find out more about their Celtic music, please see my links page.

The leather bodice that I named Helen is made from the same luscious skin from which I make style Angie.  I have added back lacing with boning for adjustment, dropped the neckline a little and the hemline a lot.  This is a very versatile bodice, taking you from formal Scottish dinners to a party with friends, and the lacing on the back makes for a terrific fit.
